Byron’s Stonehenge - Site 2

With the assistance of a number of equally passionate locals, a not-for-profit co-operative called Byron New Energy (BNE) was formed. Plans have been drafted, business structures are being developed and his dream to create a 100% sustainable ecovillage in Byron Shire are well and truly underway. BNE held their Open Weekend 23./24. October, inviting members of the community to view their extraordinary work.

“Eagle Farm fits with the Byron Shire’s personality,” he says. “It’s not just an eco-village or eco-tourism resort… it’s an initiative that’ll support employment and industry creation while showcasing the latest technologies in renewable energy.”

“We’ve dug out a number of trenches to source water from Byron Bay… and when we began excavating, we came across a number of enormous rocks, volcanic rocks aging back centuries,” said Dieter. “Instead of burying them, we stand them up.”
